The Executive Head: Corporate Affairs & Brand is accountable for providing integrated, enterprise-wide leadership of RMA’s brand, reputation, corporate affairs and stakeholder engagement agenda. The role ensures that RMA’s positioning as a trusted social insurer is consistently reinforced across all touchpoints, regulatory engagements, and public platforms.
The incumbent acts as a strategic advisor to the CEO, Exco, and Board, embedding brand and corporate affairs as critical enablers of organisational performance, regulatory credibility, and societal impact. Through strong people leadership, strategic influence, and governance stewardship, the role drives trust, alignment, and confidence among stakeholders while advancing RMA’s mandate within the social protection ecosystem.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Enterprise Brand & Reputation Stewardship
- Define, champion, and protect RMA’s enterprise brand architecture and corporate identity.
- Ensure brand alignment with RMA’s strategic objectives, values, and social insurance mandate across COIDA, Life, and AIT administration.
- Act as custodian of RMA’s reputation, proactively managing brand equity, trust, and stakeholder confidence.
Strategic Corporate Affairs & Public Affairs Leadership
- Lead the corporate affairs strategy, positioning RMA as a credible, influential voice within the insurance and social protection landscape.
- Shape public policy dialogue through structured engagement with regulators, government, employer bodies, and industry forums.
- Strengthen RMA’s external influence while safeguarding regulatory credibility and organisational integrity.
Integrated Communication & Executive Influence
- Oversee enterprise-wide internal and external communication strategies ensuring clarity, consistency, and strategic alignment.
- Serve as executive spokesperson where appropriate and provide counsel to the CEO and Exco on reputational risks and opportunities.
- Lead crisis and issue management frameworks to ensure organisational readiness and resilience.
Stakeholder Engagement & Societal Impact
- Build and sustain trust-based relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Embed RMA’s societal mandate into corporate narrative, brand messaging, and stakeholder engagements.
- Drive initiatives that demonstrate tangible social impact, reinforcing RMA’s role as a responsible and inclusive social insurer.
Governance, Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure compliance with communication governance standards, regulatory frameworks, and ethical practices.
- Anticipate, assess, and mitigate reputational and stakeholder-related risks.
- Integrate corporate affairs and brand risks into enterprise risk management processes.
Executive People Leadership
- Lead and develop high-performing Brand, Communication, and Corporate Affairs teams.
- Shape organisational culture through values-driven leadership, accountability, and performance excellence.
- Build sustainable leadership capability and position employees as ambassadors of RMA’s brand and values.

Requirements:
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
- Honours Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Leadership, Public Relations, or related field.
- MBA or Executive Leadership Programme is advantageous.
- Minimum of 12–15 years’ senior leadership experience in brand, corporate affairs, or strategic communication.
- Proven experience within insurance or financial services, preferably in regulated and social insurance environments.
- Demonstrated capability in influencing Boards, regulators, government, and industry stakeholders.
- Strong exposure to COIDA, Life products, and compliance-driven operating models.
Skills and Competencies
- Brand & Reputation Leadership: Expert capability in shaping and protecting enterprise brand and reputation within regulated environments.
- Insurance & Regulatory Acumen: Deep understanding of insurance industry dynamics, COIDA frameworks, and regulatory engagement.
- Corporate Affairs Strategy: Ability to position corporate affairs as a strategic enabler of organisational performance and societal impact.
- Governance & Risk Management: Advanced expertise in reputational risk, crisis communication, and governance oversight.
- Executive Influence: Strong advisory presence at CEO, Exco, and Board level with the ability to shape strategic outcomes.
- Stakeholder & Public Affairs Engagement: Demonstrated success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder ecosystems.
- People & Culture Leadership: Proven ability to build high-performing teams and embed value-driven leadership.
- Strategic Narrative & Communication Mastery: Ability to translate complex strategy into compelling, purpose-driven narratives.
