- Hazard Identification: Routinely inspect the warehouse floor, racking, and loading bays to spot potential safety violations or structural hazards.
- Risk Assessment: Assist senior assessors in conducting basic risk assessments and document hazards (e.g., faulty equipment, blocked fire exits).
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure staff adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and company safety policies.
- Incident Logging: Track and record safety incidents, near-misses, and hazards in the warehouse database.
- Stock & Process Auditing: Help verify inventory accuracy, detect shrinkage/damage, and monitor safety during physical stocktakes.
- Safety Briefings: Support floor supervisors by participating in or leading daily "toolbox talks" and PPE compliance checks

Job Profile:
A Junior Warehouse Risk Assessor is an entry-level occupational health, safety, and supply chain role. They assist in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating hazards in a facility, including manual handling risks, vehicle movements, and fire safety. Their primary goal is to ensure compliance with local labour and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Candidate Requirements
- Education: A National Senior Certificate (Matric), combined with a relevant tertiary qualification like a Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience: Typically, an entry-level or junior role requiring 0 to 2 years of experience in warehousing, logistics, or internal stock administration.
- Certifications: Basic understanding of ISO standards (such as ISO 45001) or a SAMTRAC certification is highly advantageous in the South African market.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong capability in evaluating data suitability and identifying root causes of risk events.
- Tech Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Communication: Ability to communicate safety rules clearly across different levels of warehouse staff.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in recording data, audit logs, and completing management reports
