Employer: Career Circuit

The External Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth by identifying new business opportunities and managing existing customer accounts. The role focuses on expanding market share through customer engagement, technical product support, demonstrations, and solution-based selling within the industrial and welding equipment sector.

The role requires strong customer relationship management, field sales capability, and the ability to work independently while achieving monthly sales and gross profit targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships
  • Provide product advice, support, and technical guidance
  • Conduct customer visits and prepare quotations
  • Follow up on quotations to close sales
  • Cold call to expand customer base
  • Arrange and conduct product demonstrations (e.g. welding machines)
  • Prepare sales reports and analyse customer data
  • Process invoices and assist with stock ordering for back orders
  • Monitor and follow up on customer back orders
  • Manage customer planning and visit schedules
  • Ensure high service standards and compliance with company procedures
  • Support delivery activities when required by management
  • Complete all sales-related administration accurately and timeously
  • Achieve monthly sales and gross profit targets (sales & rentals)
  • Comply with all Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Perform additional duties as required by management

Candidate Requirements

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Tertiary qualification advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ sales experience
  • Experience in the welding or industrial equipment industry advantageous
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s licence and own transport
  • Strong customer relationship management skills
  • Ability to plan routes and manage field visits
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Problem-solving ability and adaptability
  • Time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience with customer planning systems advantageous
