Sales Representative – Christian Books Division

                                Johannesburg or Cape Town (National Travel Required)

Jonathan Ball Publishers is seeking a dynamic Sales Representative to join its Christian Books Division. The position is based in Johannesburg or Cape Town and requires national travel. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, commercially minded, and passionate about Christian books and ministry, with a strong ability to build partnerships and drive sales growth in a dynamic environment.

 Key Responsibilities

• Promote and sell a defined range of titles on a monthly basis
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and retail partners
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly sales reports
  • Ensure optimal stock levels and effective in-store merchandising, including backlist titles
  • Maintain strong and up-to-date product knowledge
  • Expand and maintain the Christian customer database
  • Attend selected after-hours events, including book launches, festivals and customer engagements

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and administrative abilities
  • Proven sales experience, including presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently
  • Genuine interest in Christian books and the publishing industry
  • Experience in Christian ministry and/or a sound understanding of the Christian market and ministry landscape
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Matric is essential; a relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s license and willingness to travel nationally
