Are you an experienced accountant who enjoys building strong client relationships, taking ownership of your work, and having the flexibility to manage your day with confidence?Our client, a professional accounting firm based in Stellenbosch, is looking for an Accountant to join their team and manage a portfolio of clients. This role offers the best of both worlds: the freedom of working remotely, with only one day per week in the office for team collaboration, planning and client-related discussions.This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is comfortable working independently, enjoys variety, and wants to be part of a supportive professional environment without being office-bound every day.

What you’ll be responsible for:
You will manage your own client portfolio and ensure that accounting work is completed accurately, professionally and on time. Your duties will include preparing financial statements, reviewing financial information, processing and submitting statutory returns and liasing with SARS, assisting with management accounts, handling client queries and supporting clients with sound accounting guidance.

You will also liaise directly with clients, maintain strong relationships, and ensure that each client receives a high level of service and attention to detail.

What we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will have previous experience in an accounting practice and be confident in managing client work from start to finish. Strong financial statement drafting experience is important, together with good technical accounting knowledge, knowledge of taxation and the ability to work independently.

Requirements:

Relevant accounting qualification
Experience in an accounting firm or accounting practice environment eg Saipa Articles
Strong experience in drafting annual financial statements
Ability to manage a portfolio of clients independently
Good working knowledge of accounting, tax and statutory requirements
Strong computer skills and experience with accounting software
Draftworx, Caseware, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar experience will be beneficial
Excellent attention to detail
Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach
Ability to work effectively in a remote / hybrid environment
