A leading Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced and highly organized Buyer to join its Cape Town-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with experience in the civil construction sector to play a key role in supporting large-scale infrastructure and earthworks projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and procure construction materials, plant, equipment, and services.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
• Establish and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate deliveries to project sites.
• Issue purchase orders and ensure accurate procurement records are maintained.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, and Quantity Surveyors to meet project requirements.
• Track supplier performance, pricing trends, and market availability.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and project budgets.
• Resolve supplier queries and delivery issues efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years' experience as a Buyer within the Civil Engineering, Construction, or Infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering materials, plant, and procurement processes.
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience procuring materials for roads, earthworks, pipelines, bulk services, and infrastructure projects.
• Established supplier network within the South African construction industry.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost-control focus.
