IRRIGATION & WATER SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN

Our client, situated in the Piketberg / Sandveld area, Western Cape, is seeking a motivated and hands-on Irrigation & Water Systems Technician to take responsibility for the planning, installation, maintenance, and management of irrigation and water infrastructure across various farms.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and experience managing irrigation systems and installation teams within an agricultural environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): *Layout and installation of HDPE and PVC mainlines *Planning and installation of irrigation pipelines *Management and maintenance of pivot water supply systems *Inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pumps *Calculating flow, pressure, and water requirements *GPS mapping of pipelines, valves, and water infrastructure *Hands-on involvement with pipeline laying and installation teams *Stock control of pipes, couplings, valves, pumps, and related equipment *All other tasks related to this role.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• Experience with agricultural irrigation systems will be advantageous;

• Tertiary studies in irrigation and agricultural systems will be advantageous;

• Knowledge of HDPE and PVC pipe installations;

• Strong technical and problem-solving abilities;

• Ability to work independently and manage teams effectively;

• Computer literacy and experience with GPS systems will be advantageous;

• Valid driver’s licence.

Ons kliënt, geleë in die Piketberg / Sandveld-area, Wes-Kaap, is op soek na ’n gemotiveerde en praktiese Besproeiings- en Waterstelsel Tegnikus om verantwoordelikheid te neem vir die beplanning, installasie, instandhouding en bestuur van besproeiings- en waterinfrastruktuur oor verskeie plase.

Die ideale kandidaat sal oor sterk tegniese en probleemoplossingsvaardighede beskik, die vermoë hê om onafhanklik te werk, en ondervinding hê in die bestuur van besproeiingstelsels en installasiespanne binne ’n landbou-omgewing.

Die suksesvolle kandidaat sal verantwoordelik wees vir (maar nie beperk wees tot): *Uitleg en installasie van HDPE- en PVC-hooflyne *Beplanning en installasie van besproeiingspyplyne *Bestuur en instandhouding van spilpunt-(pivot) watervoorsieningstelsels *Inspeksie, instandhouding en foutopsporing van pompe *Berekening van vloei-, druk- en watervereistes*GPS-kartering van pyplyne, kleppe en waterinfrastruktuur *Praktiese betrokkenheid by pypleggings- en installasiespanne *Voorraadbeheer van pype, koppelaars, kleppe, pompe en verwante toerusting *Alle ander take verwant aan die rol.

Minimum kwalifikasies, vaardighede en ondervinding:

• Ondervinding met landbou-besproeiingstelsels sal voordelig wees;

• Tersiêre studies in besproeiing en landbousisteme sal voordelig wees;

• Kennis van HDPE- en PVC-pypinstallasies;

• Sterk tegniese en probleemoplossingsvaardighede;

• Vermoë om onafhanklik te werk en spanne doeltreffend te bestuur;

• Rekenaarvaardigheid en ervaring met GPS-stelsels sal voordelig wees;

• Geldige rybewys.
