Senior Lecturer
- PhD or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in the Built Environment, with an undergraduate qualification in urban planning or related town and regional planning.
- At least 5 years of lecturing experience.
- Evidence of research.
- Evidence of postgraduate supervision.
Additional Recommendations

- Professional registration with SACPLAN.
- Ability to work collectively as part of a team with an interest in moving the department towards excellence.
- Good research track record or relevant research experience, and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.
Summary of duties
- The incumbent will be expected to contribute to teaching and learning activities, including curriculum development, consultation with students, and academic administration, and engage with research, community outreach, and external engagement in line with the DUT policies.
- Teaching, assessing, and supervision at all levels. Responsible for at least two modules per semester in accordance with fair workload distribution, and undertake lecturing, assessment, and supervision of students in theoretical modules. To assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
- Be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department at all levels.
- Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
- Facilitating departmental community engagement projects.
- To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.
- To coordinate a level or program in the department and assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
