Role Purpose:
The General Manager: Sales is responsible for leading and driving the overall vehicle sales performance of the dealership/business unit in alignment with Hyundai’s objectives, customer experience standards, profitability targets, and brand values.
The role is accountable for new and used vehicle sales performance, market growth, customer satisfaction, sales team leadership, operational governance, and sustainable profitability while ensuring alignment to the Hyundai “Progress” and “Hyundai I Belong” culture principles.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy & Commercial Performance
- Develop and execute dealership sales strategies aligned to OEM and business targets.
- Drive achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual vehicle sales targets.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer behaviour, and economic shifts impacting sales performance.
- Identify opportunities for market expansion, fleet growth, and customer retention.
- Ensure achievement of profitability, gross profit, and market share objectives.
- Analyse sales performance data and implement corrective actions where required.
- Customer Experience & Relationship Management
- Ensure exceptional customer service and achievement of customer satisfaction/NPS targets.
- Resolve escalated customer complaints and complex sales-related matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet clients, strategic customers, and business partners.
- Promote a culture of customer retention and long-term loyalty.
- Operational & Financial Management
- Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and cost controls.
- Ensure effective stock management and optimal vehicle ageing control.
- Monitor finance and insurance conversion performance in collaboration with F&I.
- Ensure compliance with Hyundai operational standards, governance requirements, and audit controls.
- Prepare and present sales performance reports to executive leadership.
- Marketing & Business Development
- Collaborate with marketing teams to drive campaigns, launches, and promotional initiatives.
- Support digital sales initiatives and lead generation activities.
- Strengthen dealership visibility and community engagement.
- Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Governance, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with:
- Hyundai operational standards
- Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
- National Credit Act (NCA)
- POPIA requirements
- Company policies and ethical standards
- Drive adherence to internal audit and governance requirements.
- Maintain accurate reporting and sales documentation standards.

Experience & Requirements:
- Relevant qualification (preferred)
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar environment
- 1–3 years’ supervisory or team leadership experience
- Basic to intermediate experience in sales operations (minimum exposure required)
