The purpose of this position is to provide effective IT support and maintain the organisation’s computer systems, networks, hardware, software, and related technology infrastructure within both a fast-paced abattoir and meat processing environment and the cattle feedlot. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth operation of all IT systems, provide technical assistance to staff, and support the implementation and maintenance of IT solutions in line with operational and business requirements.
The role requires a hands-on individual who is able to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced production environment where downtime must be minimised to ensure continuous operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to)
- Technical Support & Helpdesk
- Provide first-line and second-line IT support to users across administrative and operational departments.
- Route support queries to relevant 3rd party service providers and manage support tickets logged with 3rd party providers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printer, email, and network issues including specialised network integrated production equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, barcode scanners, and peripherals.
- Assist users with Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, and operational business systems.
- Respond to IT support requests within agreed turnaround times to minimise operational downtime.
- Network & Systems Administration
- Monitor and maintain local area networks (LAN), wireless networks, and internet connectivity across the facility.
- Installing and crimping network cable (RJ45, RJ45 shielded, keystones etc)
- Systems development where a combination of programming and domain knowledge is required
- IT Infrastructure & Operational Support
- Perform routine system maintenance and updates.
- Install and configure hardware and software used within office and production environments.
- Support operational technologies including barcode scanners, biometric access systems, printers, and related equipment.
- Monitor system performance and report recurring issues affecting operations.
- Management and monitoring of IT personnel.
- Security & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining data security and confidentiality.
- Identify and report IT risks or security vulnerabilities.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
- Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate IT asset registers and support logs.
- Document technical procedures and troubleshooting steps.
- Assist with procurement and setup of IT equipment.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Basic networking and server administration knowledge.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of printers, CCTV systems, VoIP systems, biometric systems, and access control systems will be beneficial.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to work after hours, weekends, or standby when operationally required. Note that the abattoir is a 24/7 operation.
- Own reliable transport will be advantageous. 2x4 or 4x4 advantageous for farm.
- Clear criminal record may be required.
Candidate Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess one or more of the following recognised IT qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Strong MS SQL Server skills (Query writing and DB maintenance)
- Strong accounting or actuarial background (advantageous)
- Advanced Excel skills (linking sheets to databases, pivots, formulas etc)
- Programming skills and qualifications (VBA, C#, ASP.NET, Python etc) (advantageous)
- CompTIA A+ Certification (advantageous).
- CompTIA Network+ Certification (advantageous).
- Relevant IT support or systems administration certifications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in an IT support or IT administration role.
- Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
- Knowledge of networking principles, routers, switches, and wireless systems.
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and software installations.
- Exposure to cybersecurity practices and data protection principles.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, warehouse, FMCG, or abattoir environment will be advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
