We’re looking for a seasoned procurement leader, as our Head of Procurement, to take full ownership of the function and translate strategy into measurable value. This role sits at the centre of the business, shaping procurement direction, leading a high-performing team, and driving alignment across commercial, supply chain, and finance. 

The vacancy will be based at our Head Office in Bryanston, Johannesburg. This is the place where decisions take shape and strategy turns into action, working closely with our manufacturing operations to keep the business performing at its best.

Reporting Structure:

• Reports to: Finance Director
• Direct Reports: Procurement & Packaging Team 

Key Areas of Impact:

1. Procurement Strategy & Value Delivery

• Develop and implement a robust procurement strategy across direct and indirect spend
• Align sourcing strategies to business objectives, market conditions, and risk considerations
• Drive total cost optimisation across the procurement value chain 

2. Sourcing, Supplier & Contract Management

• Lead supplier selection, negotiations, and long-term partnership development
• Oversee contract management, ensuring commercial value and compliance
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure continuity, quality, and cost efficiency 

3. Risk Management & Market Intelligence

• Manage procurement risk through contingency planning and supply continuity strategies
• Lead price risk mitigation, including commodity and currency hedging programmes
• Track market trends and proactively adjust sourcing strategies 

4. Financial Governance & Performance Management

• Manage procurement budgets, forecasting, and cost analysis
• Drive working capital optimisation without compromising service levels
• Deliver clear reporting and insights to support business decision-making 

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with commercial, supply chain, finance, IT, and legal teams
• Ensure procurement is fully integrated into the broader business strategy
• Influence stakeholders to drive alignment and results 

6. Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team
• Build capability across strategic sourcing, analytics, and negotiation
• Foster accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

7. Continuous Improvement & Optimisation

• Drive efficiency, transparency, and process improvements
• Use data and insights to unlock cost-saving and performance opportunities
• Embed best practices across procurement operations 

What It Takes to Succeed:

Experience that set you up for success:                       

• Minimum 10 years’ procurement management experience, within FMCG or food manufacturing
• Strong exposure to the agri-value chain
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, cost optimisation, and supplier management
• Experience operating in complex, fast-paced environments 

Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree (essential)
• Postgraduate qualification or MCIPS (advantageous) 

Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:

• Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
• Strong analytical and data interpretation capability
• SAP or similar ERP experience (advantageous)
• Exposure to AIB / BRC / FSSC 22000 or similar standards (advantageous)
