- Ensure that the Assistant Quality Manager is informed of all non-conformances and discrepancies daily.
Incoming Raw material (wheat, premix, packaging)
- Ensure wheat intake is tested according to the our client's standards, 4021 Wheat Acceptance and 1001 Wheat Intake Procedure.
- Conduct regular quality checks on other raw and packaging materials according to our clients standards, 8009 Acceptance of production materials.
- Ensure wheat intake and related quality data are captured correctly in the applicable systems.
- Report deviations and monitor the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Count the physical stock in the wheat silos and conditioning bins every morning.
- Conduct month-end stock taking regarding wheat in silos and conditioning bins.
Daily Testing and Sampling
- Conduct hourly flour testing and reporting of results for every shift and mill.
- Collect hourly flour samples to make up composite samples for product analysis and release.
- Capture flour test results accurately on product information and applicable records.
- Ensure product testing records are completed fully and accurately to reflect daily production.
- Interpret test results and identify any deviations from specification and liaise with millers, Assistant Quality Manager and relevant departments.
- Assist the Assistant Quality Manager with micro sampling
- Verify whether product parameters conform to specification for Certificate of Analysis (COA) purposes.
- Create COA’s and ensure they are sent to clients where applicable.
- Investigate inquiries regarding missing or delayed COA’s and provide feedback to the Quality Assistant Manager
- Be fully familiar with the procedure to operate the Alveograph.
- Perform daily flour tests on the Alveograph according to procedure.
- Interpret and evaluate results obtained from the Alveograph.
- Report any out-of-specification or abnormal results immediately to the millers and Quality Assistant Manager.
- Escalate significant deviations and support investigation where required.
- Ensure the positive release of finished products aligns with client's specifications and customer specifications.
- Compile product release documentation and verify all testing parameters are within specification.
- Ensure no product is released without the required supporting information and approvals.
- Collaborate with other Quality Assurer and Quality Assistants to identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and consistency.
- Report any deviations to the relevant departments and the Quality Assistant Manager
Department inspections
- Assist with conducting pre-production checks
- Assist with conducting hourly quality inspections at milling, packing, mixers and dispatch.
- Assist with conducting quality check after maintenance in production areas
- All inspections conducted must be according to client's Food Safety Management System.
- Perform verifications and calibrations on all laboratory equipment as per schedule.
- Ensure that the laboratory and all the equipment will always be functional in a clean and neat state as per GLP and food safety requirements.
- Maintain retention samples and ensure the highest quality samples are kept for visual comparisons during product testing
Stand in for other quality personnel
- When necessary, work shifts to cover for quality personnel on leave to ensure continuity
- Performing any other odd tasks as requested by management should the need arise.
