- Define and execute a scalable consumer distribution strategy aligned to business and underwriter objectives
- Own the end-to-end performance of all consumer distribution channels, including payroll/stop order, direct, and intermediated channels
- Identify, develop, and manage new distribution partnerships and growth opportunities
- Ensure channels are efficient, profitable, and scalable.
- Design and maintain an enterprise stakeholder engagement strategy and annual plan that integrates brand/reputation, public affairs, government relations and social partner management for C&P, aligned to Group frameworks
- Establish engagement protocols and decision rights across internal/external stakeholders; ensure disciplined feedback loops into Marketing/Comms and Strategy for continuous refinement
- Chair the Stakeholder Governance Forum for C&P; embed risk/compliance thresholds (market conduct, procurement ethics, data privacy) and escalation routes.
- Translate the consolidated relationship segmentation model into clear coverage plans and service levels for priority stakeholders (Exclusive, Premium, Concierge & COID Assist, Essential), with measurable visit plans and issue-resolution SLAs
- Partner with the Managing Executive: Relationship to drive retention, share-of-wallet growth and NPS improvements across top accounts.
- Lead senior engagements with municipalities, public entities and the Compensation Commissioner; align to COIDA policies, employer obligations and evolving regulatory priorities
- Coordinate cross-functional responses to material system or policy shifts impacting employer compliance, claims experience or benefit structures.
- Own the portfolio’s annual business plan and OKRs; deliver growth (new premium/revenue), retention and cost-to-serve targets for the portfolio in collaboration with Sales, Relationship and Operations leaders
- Oversee portfolio budgets and people costs; manage salary bill within approved ranges and optimise spend to plan.
- Ensure adherence to COIDA, market conduct (FSCA), public sector procurement, PFMA/MFMA where applicable, and internal compliance frameworks; remedy audit findings and track action closure
- Safeguard RMA reputation; implement proactive issue-spotting, rapid incident response and transparent stakeholder communication.
- Build a high-performing team (Stakeholder Management, NBD); set direction, coach, and manage performance with clear output measures; ensure succession and diversity objectives.
- Postgraduate degree in Business/Commerce/Public Policy (Master’s advantageous)
- 12–15+ years in insurance/financial services/social insurance with 10+ years leading enterprise relationships in regulated environments; proven growth and complex stakeholder outcomes
- Deep knowledge of COIDA/social insurance ecosystem; public sector procurement; market conduct
- FAIS/RE Certifications are advantageous for cross-sell oversight
- Deep understanding of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) and its operational administration, including employer obligations, reporting requirements, claims processes, and benefit structures
- Strong knowledge of the South African social insurance landscape, including the Compensation Commissioner, social partners, medical provider networks, and occupational health systems
- Ability to interpret and engage on policy evolution, regulatory trends, and legislative shifts affecting workers’ compensation, industry compliance, and employer responsibilities.
- Expertise in stakeholder mapping, political economy awareness, and public sector relationship management, especially with municipalities, public entities, and government departments
- Understanding of public sector procurement, compliance rules, engagement protocols, and decision-making hierarchies
- Strong capability in navigating multi-stakeholder environments involving unions, industry associations, board/trustee structures, and regulators.
- Proven ability to develop differentiated segment strategies (Exclusive, Premium, Essential) and service models tailored to employer size, industry, and complexity
- In-depth knowledge of strategic account planning, retention levers, joint value propositions, and employer-centric engagement frameworks
- Ability to manage senior-level dialogues with employer EXCOs, industry bodies, and high-value partners, balancing service, compliance, and commercial insights.
