The Executive Head: Corporate Affairs provides strategic leadership and enterprise-wide influence in managing RMA’s reputation, stakeholder relationships, and corporate citizenship. This role ensures that RMA’s positioning as a trusted social insurer is reinforced through transparent communication, effective stakeholder engagement, and proactive governance. The incumbent drives organisational impact by aligning corporate affairs with business strategy, fostering trust with regulators, policyholders, employees, and partners, and embedding RMA’s societal mandate into its brand and corporate narrative.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategic Corporate Affairs Leadership
- Define and execute RMA’s corporate affairs strategy, aligning with organisational vision and social insurance mandate
- Position RMA as a thought leader in insurance, asset management, and health through proactive reputation management.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Build and sustain trust-based relationships with regulators, government, industry bodies, policyholders, and communities
- Act as a key influencer in shaping policy and industry dialogue relevant to social insurance.
Corporate Communication & Reputation Management
- Lead integrated communication strategies, ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment with enterprise objectives
- Serve as custodian of RMA’s reputation, managing issues and crises with resilience and credibility.
Corporate Citizenship & Societal Impact
- Champion RMA’s role as a social insurer, embedding societal impact into corporate affairs initiatives
- Drive programmes that reinforce RMA’s values of inclusion, fairness, and responsibility.
Governance & Risk Oversight
- Ensure compliance with communication governance, regulatory frameworks, and ethical standards
- Proactively manage reputational risk and embed crisis readiness.
Executive People Leadership
- Inspire and lead the Corporate Affairs department, embedding excellence, collaboration, and accountability
- Develop leadership pipelines and position employees as ambassadors of RMA’s brand and values.
Corporate Affairs Strategy
- Define and lead RMA’s corporate affairs agenda, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and its mandate as a social insurer
- Shape long-term positioning by embedding corporate affairs into business growth, regulatory compliance, and societal impact.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and sustain trust-based relationships with regulators, government, policyholders, employees, and industry partners
- Influence policy and industry dialogue, positioning RMA as a credible and responsible voice in the insurance and social protection ecosystem.
Reputation Management
- Act as custodian of RMA’s reputation, proactively managing issues and crises with resilience and credibility
- Strengthen brand equity and public trust through transparent, values-driven communication and consistent corporate narrative.
Corporate Citizenship
- Champion RMA’s societal mandate, embedding inclusion, fairness, and responsibility into corporate affairs initiatives
- Drive impactful programmes that reinforce RMA’s role as a socially responsible insurer delivering measurable community benefit.
Governance & Risk
- Provide executive oversight of governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and ethical practices
- Embed reputational risk management into enterprise risk strategy, ensuring readiness and resilience in crisis communication.
People Leadership
- Inspire and lead the Corporate Affairs department, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation
- Develop senior leadership capability and talent pipelines, positioning employees as ambassadors of RMA’s brand and values.
Organisational Impact
- Deliver measurable improvements in trust, reputation, and stakeholder confidence, reinforcing RMA’s positioning as a leading social insurer
- Ensure corporate affairs strategies directly enhance enterprise performance, customer loyalty, and societal outcomes.
Leadership & Direction
- Communicate the corporate affairs strategy and its alignment with RMA’s mission, vision, and values
- Motivate teams to commit to organisational goals and deliver extraordinary results
- Manage and report on performance, holding direct reports accountable for objectives.
Organisational Capability & Structure
- Define the organisational structure for corporate affairs to align with corporate principles and enable delivery of objectives
- Identify capability gaps, prioritise development activities, and embed personal growth into the culture

Requirements:
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
- Bachelors Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
- 10+ years’ senior leadership experience in corporate affairs, preferably within insurance or financial services
- Proven track record in brand positioning, stakeholder engagement, and external representation
- Strong knowledge of COIDA, life insurance products, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills and Competencies
- Insurance Industry Mastery: Possesses a comprehensive and authoritative understanding of insurance industry dynamics, with particular expertise in COIDA administration, Life products, and AIT services. Anticipates regulatory shifts and market trends, ensuring RMA’s positioning as a trusted and socially impactful insurer.
- Corporate Affairs Strategy & Reputation Leadership: Provides visionary leadership in corporate affairs strategy, communication, and reputation management, embedding corporate affairs as a strategic enabler of organisational success. Acts as custodian of RMA’s reputation, proactively managing issues and crises with resilience and credibility.
- Commercial & Societal Acumen: Demonstrates strong commercial foresight, aligning corporate affairs initiatives with business growth, profitability, and sustainability. Ensures programmes deliver measurable ROI while advancing RMA’s broader societal mandate as a social insurer.
- Change Leadership & Organisational Transformation: Recognised as a change catalyst and transformation leader, with proven capability to embed agility, innovation, and resilience into organisational culture. Drives enterprise-wide transformation, ensuring RMA adapts to industry disruption while maintaining operational excellence and stakeholder confidence.
