Position Purpose
The provision of electrical subject matter expertise in the effective and efficient execution of electrical capital and working projects, the compilation of specifications, tender documentation, policies, standards, & procedures to ensure a continued, updated, adequate, fit for purpose, functional electrical distribution network / substation system for the safe transportation and distribution of liquid petroleum, crude products and gas for TRANSNET PIPELINES.The above include SME actions into high level / detailed investigations, problem solving, electrical consulting to other Major capital projects, pumpstation / workshop support and Research & Development.Responsible for the effective and efficient execution of minor and major energy saving projects, the compilation of specifications, tender documentation, standards & procedures, and fault finding of energy meters to ensure a continued energy and cost savings in liquid petroleum, crude products stations across TRANSNET PIPELINES.Investigate existing practices and installations with the goal of improving energy consumption and cost.
Position Outputs
Electrical Engineering input to own Capital & Working projects, most Technical Capital Projects, Research and Development, Consultancy, design, specifications, standards and technical problem solving service.
Provides:
Ad hoc reports, especially investigations
Electrical policies and procedures that impact on Operations and Workshop maintenance requirements
Electrical project / tender specifications for Capital and Working projects / contracts
Electrical standards requirements for other Technical Capital project, quality assurance and Inspections.
Provide specialist information and advice on electrical equipment e.g. OHSACT , Technical department
Conducting, executing and take responsibility for assigned GMR 2.7 duties as per delegated assignments by GMR 2.1 Task’s and responsibilities are determined by the GMR control framework.Controlling impact where the incumbent makes decisions which significantly affect the allocation and utilization of the resource. Contributory or supporting impact where the incumbent provides essential services but does not exert direct control over the resource.
Qualifications and Experience
BSc or BEng or Btech in Electrical Engineering or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) with a minimum of 8
years’ experience in Engineering.
• SANS 10142 - Installation Rules
• SANS 60079 - Master Installation Rules
• ISO 50001 Energy Management System
• NRS 048
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a large organisation with a complex operations
and commercial environment
• Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National
Credit Act Amendment 19
• Must be willing to undergo Lifestyle Audit.
• Must be willing to accept GMR 2.7 assignments
• Eligible to be registered with ECSA
• Added advantage:
at least 2 years is within a petrochemical environment
Already registered with ECSA
Completed the required curriculum as to be accepted by the Department of Labor as a candidate for the GCC exam.
Achieved and passed both the GCC Factories and Law exam Diploma or highest non-graduate qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering.
Standard Job Requirements Driver’s license, Travel as required and approved.

Electrical Standards, specifications, instructions and codes e.g. SANS / IEC, ISO50001, NRS 048
Electrical Equipment (Switchgear, protection relays, transformers, motors.)
TRANSNET PIPELINES policies and procedures
Legislation: OSH Act, General Machinery regulation & Hazardous area regulations.
Pipeline Operations
Maintenance and maintenance management.
SAP PM
Project management.
Exceptional understanding and ability to manipulate Schematics diagrams
and typical design drawings.
TRANSNET PIPELINES business e.g. Contracts, Procurement, Tender procedure.
