We are seeking an experienced, professional and customer-focused Senior Waiter to join our team at Bridgewater Manor in Somerset West. This role is ideally suited to a hospitality professional with strong restaurant service experience, leadership ability and a passion for delivering outstanding service to residents and guests.
The successful candidate will be an all-round hospitality professional capable of supporting daily restaurant operations, mentoring junior staff, ensuring exceptional service standards and stepping into a supervisory capacity when required. Experience in retirement, healthcare, hospitality or restaurant environments will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food Service Manager and Restaurant Supervisor with the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and healthcare dining services.
- Supervise, support and motivate waiters and service staff during service periods, ensuring exceptional service standards are consistently maintained.
- Lead by example, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and food hygiene requirements.
- Act as relief supervisor during periods of leave, absence or operational requirements.
- Deliver exceptional food and beverage service in accordance with established service standards, ensuring residents and guests receive a warm, professional and welcoming dining experience.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, daily specials, beverages and dietary requirements to confidently assist residents and make recommendations.
- Accurately take and process meal orders, ensuring information is communicated correctly to the kitchen team and meals are served timeously and at the appropriate temperature.
- Accommodate resident preferences and dietary requirements while maintaining the highest standards of service excellence.
- Meet and greet new residents, assist them in becoming familiar with dining services, and build positive relationships with residents and their families.
- Handle resident concerns professionally, resolving issues where possible and escalating matters appropriately when required.
- Support effective communication between residents, healthcare staff, kitchen teams and management to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Provide regular feedback to management regarding resident dining experiences, food quality, service standards and operational concerns.
- Ensure tea, coffee and beverage service is delivered professionally and consistently, while maintaining excellent product knowledge and making appropriate recommendations.
- Maintain beverage stock levels, assist with stock counts and inventory control, and report shortages, breakages or variances.
- Ensure accurate billing of beverages, coffee shop meals and resident accounts, resolving discrepancies in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with monthly audits, operational checks and other administrative duties required to support efficient restaurant operations.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a restaurant, hospitality, retirement village, hotel or healthcare dining environment.
- Proven experience as a Senior Waiter, Head Waiter or similar role.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience will be highly advantageous.
- Strong food and beverage knowledge, including serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge.
- Barista experience will be advantageous.
- Experience working with elderly residents, frail care, healthcare or dementia environments will be advantageous.
- Computer literate (basic).
- Experience with stock control, billing and restaurant administration.

Faircape offers a competitive salary package dependent on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.
Your total package includes a set basic salary, provision for Sunday pay (time and a half), public holiday pay (double time), and quarterly performance bonuses (every 3 months) payable after successful completion of probation.
Working Hours
Normal working days are Monday to Sunday from 07h00 to 19h00, according to the roster.
