- Support the Chief Financial Officer in managing the organisation’s financial operations and ensuring compliance with the PFMA, Treasury Regulations and other applicable financial governance frameworks.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual budget and financial reports, including financial analysis to support informed decision-making and the preparation of Annual Financial Statements
- Participate in Management Committee (ManCom) meetings and contribute financial insights to support organisational strategy and planning.
- Lead the preparation, consolidation and monitoring of organisational and departmental budgets, including expenditure control and variance analysis monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly and yearly.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries and maintaining the integrity of financial records and systems.
- Monitor and manage organisational cash flow and working capital to support financial sustainability.
- Ensure financial records, documentation and systems are audit-ready and coordinate internal and external audit processes to support the achievement of an unqualified audit outcome.
- Clear understanding and application of Income tax, VAT, provisional tax and PAYE for enhanced reporting and control requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, risk management practices and compliance frameworks.
- Assist the CFO with monitoring organisational investments and providing financial analyses to support strategic decisions.
- Oversee finance staff and ensure the accurate and compliant processing of financial transactions.
- Manage the organisation’s insurance portfolio and asset-related financial records to support effective risk management.
- Contribute financial input to corporate plans, annual reports and other strategic organisational documents.
- Provide training, mentoring, professional development and performance management for staff reporting to the role.
- Act in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer when required.
Candidate Requirements
- Postgraduate Degree in Accounting or relevant tertiary financial related qualification
- CTA with completed articles
- Valid registration with a professional body
- At least 5 years post articles experience within Finance and Accounting
- At least 5 years’ experience in managing the finance portfolio of the business
- Experience working with financial regulations and governance frameworks (including PFMA) would be advantageous
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Experience in Asset Management and Management Accounts
- Previous experience in supervising or managing subordinates
- Experience in the drafting/ preparing of AFS would be advantageous
- Knowledge of Draftworx and Sage Intacct or similar systems
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite and Power BI
- A valid driver’s license
