Role Purpose:

The IT Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications by designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and validating that systems meet business and technical requirements. The role works closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure that solutions are fit for purpose, meet user expectations, and comply with organisational standards. The IT Software Tester plays a critical role in maintaining system integrity, reducing risk, and supporting the successful delivery of technology solutions within Merchant West.

 

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Test Planning and Execution
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Execute testing within agreed timelines to support project delivery.

 

  1. Defect Management and Resolution
  • Identify, log, and track defects through to resolution.
  • Ensure defects are clearly documented and prioritised based on impact.
  • Collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently.

 

  1. Quality Assurance and Standards
  • Ensure systems meet defined quality standards and acceptance criteria.
  • Validate system functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Promote adherence to testing standards and best practices.

 

  1. Requirements Validation
  • Review and understand business and technical requirements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure test cases align with defined requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Validate that delivered solutions meet user expectations and business needs.

 

  1. Testing Support and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders during testing phases.
  • Support user acceptance testing and provide guidance where required.
  • Ensure effective communication of testing progress and issues.

  1. Governance and Documentation
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, including test cases and defect logs.
  • Ensure compliance with testing processes, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Support audit and review processes related to system testing.

  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with relevant programming or development certifications being advantageous.

 

 Experience:

  • 3–6 years in software development within a financial services or enterprise environment.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining applications and systems.
  • Working with programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
  • Translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Supporting system integration, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Operating within development standards, governance, and version control practices.
