Lead Operational Excellence in a High-Performance Technical Environment
An established organisation servicing the mining and heavy industrial sectors is seeking an experienced and results-driven Field Services Manager to lead and optimise its field service operations across multiple client sites.
This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of technical services, driving operational performance, managing client relationships, and leading a team of technical professionals in a demanding and safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary field services team.
- Drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
Operational Management
- Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance, installation, and repair activities.
- Ensure resources are effectively allocated to meet operational and contractual requirements.
- Monitor service delivery performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive operational efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure contractual obligations and service level agreements are consistently achieved.
- Manage escalated service issues and provide effective resolutions.
- Represent the organisation during client engagements, audits, and performance reviews.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Lead risk assessments, investigations, audits, and corrective action processes.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all operational sites.
Commercial & Business Growth
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts.
- Support tender submissions, contract negotiations, and business development initiatives.
- Contribute to the achievement of strategic and financial objectives.
Required Skills
- Leadership Skills: 3 to 4 years
- Strategic And Operational Planning: 5 to 6 years
- Client Relationship Management Experience: 3 to 4 years
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical field.
- 8–10 years' experience within mining, heavy industrial, engineering, or field service environments.
- Minimum 5 years' management experience leading operational or technical teams.
- Strong understanding of maintenance, service delivery, and operational management principles.
- Proven experience managing client relationships and service contracts.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively.
Advantageous
- Experience with mobile mining equipment, braking systems, or safety-critical equipment.
- Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and integrated management systems.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
