Introduction:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager: Operational Performance & Governance to oversee the effective implementation of operational strategy, strengthen governance frameworks, and ensure compliance across our Africa Operations.
The successful candidate will drive financial oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across cross-border and dealership business activities, while providing strategic support to leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting degree (Honours or equivalent)
- Postgraduate qualification (preferred)
- NQF Level 8
Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in finance/operations
- Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience
- Proven experience in cross-border or export business environments
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of:
- Cross-border/export processes
- Foreign currency transactions
- Financial reporting and business intelligence
- South African tax, VAT, and customs regulations
- Experience with contracts, SLAs, and commercial agreements
- SAP experience (FI preferred; MM/SD advantageous)
- Advanced Excel skills
Advantageous
- Experience in large commercial or mining contracts
- Financial inventory reporting experience
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Oversight
- Monitor and analyse financial performance across the full business lifecycle (forecasting, pricing, sales, inventory, profitability).
- Provide insights on cross-border business activities including receivables, payables, rebates, commissions, and margins.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Support foreign currency transactions and banking processes.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to organisational policies, legislative requirements, and export regulations.
- Oversee compliance with tax, VAT, customs, and SARB requirements.
- Monitor export processes and ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks.
- Liaise with regulatory and statutory bodies to resolve operational matters.
Contract & Commercial Management
- Support the review, implementation, and compliance of dealership and commercial agreements.
- Monitor contractual obligations, pricing, rebates, and service level agreements.
- Provide oversight of contract performance and profitability.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Ensure appropriate internal controls and governance processes are in place.
- Monitor compliance with risk management frameworks.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Drive change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, subsidiaries, suppliers, customers, and cross-border dealers.
- Support executive decision-making through data-driven insights.
