Namib Poultry (Pty) Ltd is a fully integrated broiler production operation established in 2012 and situated 30 km north of Windhoek on the A1 Highway on the farm Klein Okapuka. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To effectively manage and oversee all site operations to ensure production targets, bird welfare, biosecurity, safety standards, and operational requirements are achieved in accordance with company procedures and accepted practices, while supervising and developing employees to maintain efficient site performance.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Production Management

• Recording of site production results on a daily basis.
• Responsible for the control of all consumable items on site.
• Responsible for the operation and accuracy of all records and returns.
• Production results, mortalities, ventilation, temperature control to be regulated as per standard.
  

• Responsible for maintaining the site housekeeping to accepted standards.
• Responsible for the care of all equipment, buildings, fixed and loose assets on the site.
• Ensure that breakages and repairs are attended to as quickly and efficiently repaired.
  

• Ensure and maintain the most effective complement of staff at each site.
• Performance management and training of subordinates.
  

• Ensure that biosecurity is adhered to at all times.
• Ensure all houses are bird proofed.
• Responsible for the welfare of the birds at all times and that protocol is being followed.
  

• Emergency procedures for power failures, alarms, fire, gas leaks, accidents and injuries are upheld.
• Manage Health and Safety matters on the site, including the proper display of chemical safety data sheets and first aid boxes.
  

• Effective control over the security on the sites such as keys, fences, security guards etc.
• Security lights at night are all in working order.
  

• Responsible to see that alarm, ventilation and feeding systems are working properly.
• Working on a standby schedule as set up by the Production Manager and attend to breakdowns promptly.
  

• Perform ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned by Management.
• Assist with operational requirements outside normal daily responsibilities when required.
• Provide support to other departments and sites when necessary.
• Ensure all additional tasks are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE  

• Grade 12 (NQF 4).                                                                                                  
• Experience in the farming/ Poultry Industry will be highly advantageous.
• Namibian citizen. 
• Proficiency in English, being bilingual will be highly advantageous.
• High level of computer literacy with advanced mastering of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.   
• Valid driver's license (Code BE)
