1. Purpose of the Role
The HSSE Officer is responsible for the day-to-day implementation, enforcement and monitoring of Health & Safety, Food Safety, Security, and Environmental, and Quality Assurance controls at the operational level. This role plays a critical part in ensuring legal compliance, operational integrity, and the safety and well-being of all personnel on site. As part of IFS’s ISO 22000 framework, the HSSE Officer serves as an Operational Food Safety Team Member, contributing to the identification, monitoring, and control of food safety hazards. The role supports the execution of food safety plans and participates in the site’s food safety governance structure, which is integrated into the broader HSSE Committee.

HSSE Monitoring & Compliance

2. Key Responsibilities
HSSE Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct daily inspections across H&S, Food Safety, Environmental, and Hygiene domains.
- Monitor compliance with critical control points (CCPs), temperature logs, personal hygiene, and cleaning protocols.
- Identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and implement control measures.
- Actively participate as an Operational Food Safety Team Member under ISO 22000.
- Support the implementation of food safety plans and contribute to hazard analysis and control verification.
- Ensure food handlers follow hygiene protocols and that water quality and pest control measures are maintained.
- Oversee basic perimeter security, lighting, and access control compliance
- Maintain inspection logs, incident reports, and escalate issues as required.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and awareness campaigns to site personnel.
- Promote a culture of safety, hygiene, and environmental responsibility.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and non-conformances.
- Ensure documentation is aligned with ISO and client requirements.
- Diploma or Certificate in Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
- HACCP, ISO 22000, or NEBOSH IGC preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of HSSE-related experience in industrial catering, remote site, or similar environments.
