IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management or Project Management.
- Strong experience with planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project or equivalent).
- Experience working in multi-contractor environments.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project controls.
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in project planning within mining, construction or infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Schedule Development and Integration
- Develop detailed schedules for all community construction work packages.
- Integrate contractor activities into the overall project master schedule.
- Define logical sequencing, dependencies and critical paths.
- Ensure alignment between different disciplines (civil, building, electrical).
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
- Track actual progress against planned schedules.
- Identify variances, delays and deviations from baseline plans.
- Provide regular progress reports to Construction Manager and project team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date schedule information.
Coordination of Multiple Contractors
- Ensure alignment of activities across multiple contractors working simultaneously.
- Prevent clashes, inefficiencies and sequencing conflicts.
- Facilitate coordination between different workstreams and disciplines.
- Support structured execution across fragmented work packages.
Forecasting and Early Warning
- Identify potential delays and risks before they impact the project.
- Provide forecasts of completion dates and critical milestones.
- Highlight areas requiring intervention or additional resources.
- Support proactive decision-making by management.
Integration with Construction and Commercial Teams
- Work closely with Construction Manager and Supervisors to align planning with execution.
- Ensure physical progress on site is accurately reflected in schedules.
- Coordinate with Quantity Surveyors to align progress with cost reporting.
- Support alignment between planning, procurement and material availability.
Schedule Control and Discipline
- Ensure all work is executed according to approved schedules.
- Prevent ad hoc or unplanned work that disrupts sequencing.
- Maintain discipline in planning processes across contractors.
- Ensure all changes to schedules are properly reviewed and approved.
Risk Management
- Identify risks related to sequencing, resource allocation and contractor performance.
- Implement mitigation strategies to minimise schedule impact.
- Monitor trends in delays and address root causes.
- Escalate risks that may impact project milestones.
Data Management and Systems
- Maintain scheduling systems (e.g. Primavera, MS Project or equivalent).
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of planning data.
- Generate reports, dashboards and analysis for management.
- Support continuous improvement of planning processes.
