SSK currently has the following career opportunity in its Information Systems department in Swellendam. We are looking for a proactive Senior Software Engineer to help modernise the way we build, integrate, govern, and scale internal software and data platforms. We are moving toward a more reliable, cloud-ready, well-documented technology environment where applications, integrations, databases, reporting, and business systems work together more cleanly and predictably.

This role is not only about maintaining systems. It is about helping reduce legacy complexity, improve engineering standards, strengthen integration patterns, and build a more modern foundation for future business systems.

Main Focus Areas

• C#/.NET application development
• SQL and data-driven troubleshooting
• API and integration architecture
• Application modernisation and refactoring
• Production reliability and root-cause analysis
• Code quality, testing, documentation, and release discipline
• Engineering standards and technical design
• Mentorship of junior/ intermediate developers
• Working across applications, data platforms, integrations, and reporting environments
  

Skills and Competencies

• Experience with C#/.NET, SQL, APIs, integrations, and source control.
• Experience with debugging and business-critical production systems.
• Experience with Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Qlik, and Azure DevOps is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud/data, or agricultural/retail/finance platforms is an advantage.
• Ownership and influence over the technical direction of a complex business environment.
• Solving difficult problems and making pragmatic architecture decisions.
