Purpose of the RoleThe Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. The successful candidate will manage project teams, oversee technical deliverables, and provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.Key ResponsibilitiesStructural Design & EngineeringPrepare and review structural designs, calculations, drawings, and specificationsDesign reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structuresConduct structural assessments and feasibility studiesEnsure compliance with SANS codes, regulations, and industry standardsReview shop drawings and contractor submissionsProject ManagementManage multiple engineering projects simultaneouslyCoordinate project timelines, budgets, and resourcesAttend client, contractor, and site meetingsMonitor project progress and resolve technical issuesEnsure projects are delivered within budget and deadlinesSite Inspections & Quality ControlConduct site inspections and structural assessmentsEnsure construction complies with approved engineering designsPrepare inspection reports and recommendationsAssist with troubleshooting structural defects and construction challengesLeadership & MentorshipMentor junior engineers, technicians, and draughtsmenReview and approve technical work completed by the engineering teamProvide technical guidance and support across projectsClient & Stakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong client relationshipsLiaise with architects, contractors, quantity surveyors, and other consultantsParticipate in business development and tender processes when required

Minimum Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professionally registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (PrEng or PrTechEng advantageous)
• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in structural engineering design
• Strong experience in commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects
• Proficient in structural analysis and design software
• Experience with reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structures
• Knowledge of South African building regulations and codes
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Prokon, Revit, or similar engineering software
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Salary
Market-related salary package offered based on qualifications and experience.
Working Conditions

• Office-based in Centurion with regular site visits
• May require occasional travel to project sites
• Full-time permanent position
