Purpose of the RoleThe Maintenance Assistant will support the maintenance department in ensuring that all buildings, facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will assist with repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and general upkeep of the property.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral MaintenancePerform daily maintenance and repair tasks around the propertyAssist with plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairsConduct routine inspections of facilities and equipmentEnsure all maintenance issues are addressed promptlyPreventative MaintenanceAssist in implementing preventative maintenance schedulesMonitor equipment and report faults or breakdownsEnsure tools and equipment are properly maintained and storedGrounds & Facility UpkeepMaintain cleanliness and appearance of maintenance areasAssist with upkeep of staff accommodation, guest areas, and public spacesSupport gardening and outdoor maintenance when requiredHealth & SafetyFollow health and safety procedures at all timesEnsure maintenance work is completed safely and efficientlyReport hazards, damages, or safety concerns immediatelyAdministration & SupportComplete maintenance checklists and job cardsAssist with stock control of maintenance supplies and toolsSupport the maintenance team with ad hoc duties as required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 2–3 years’ maintenance experience in hospitality, lodge, hotel, or property environment
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor maintenance issues
• Valid driver’s license advantageous
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and standby when required
