Purpose of the Role
The HSSE Manager is responsible for leading operational Health & Safety, Food Safety, Security, and Environmental, and Quality Assurance performance across assigned site(s). This role ensures the implementation of site-level management systems aligned with ISO standards and legal requirements, while driving continuous improvement and incident prevention. As part of IFS’s ISO 22000 framework, the HSSE Manager serves as an Operational Food Safety Team Member, actively participating in food safety governance and contributing to the effectiveness of the site’s food safety management system. This role is embedded within the HSSE Committee structure and collaborates closely with HSSE Officers and operational teams to uphold food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. HSSE System Implementation

Key Responsibilities
1. HSSE System Implementation
- Implement and maintain site-level IFS HSSE management systems aligned to ISO 45001, 14001, 22000, and 9001.
- Supervise HSSE Officers and ensure functional delivery across all HSSE domains.
- Ensure legal compliance and operational integrity through inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
- Actively participate as an Operational Food Safety Team Member under ISO 22000.
- Support the implementation of food safety controls, including CCP monitoring, sanitation protocols, and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure food safety risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
- Monitor environmental controls, including waste management, emissions, and water quality.
- Drive security risk control measures and access management compliance.
- Conduct root cause analyses and manage incident reporting and escalation.
- Lead internal inspections, non-conformance tracking, and QA verifications.
- Prepare sites for client and third-party audits and inspections.
- Ensure documentation and reporting are accurate and compliant with standards.
- Mentor HSSE Officers and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness campaigns to operational staff.
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental or Quality Management.
- NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, HACCP, or SAMTRAC certifications preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of HSSE experience, with at least 3 years in site leadership.
- Experience in industrial catering, remote site, or offshore environments is advantageous.
