SPARES SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Salary: R30,000 + Medical Aid + Provident Fund
Introduction
Our client is seeking a high-performing Spares Sales Representative with strong technical understanding, excellent customer?relationship skills, and a proven track record in sales. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in the mining sector, strong product knowledge, and the ability to identify and capitalise on new business opportunities.
This is a demanding, fast?paced role requiring excellent communication, strong planning ability, and the confidence to engage with customers at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Maintenance
- Visit customers regularly according to call cycle
- Address general sales, technical issues, and service updates
- Identify new business opportunities at existing and potential customers
- Submit weekly customer?visit reports to Branch Manager
Customer Database Management
- Ensure all new and existing accounts have full power?base identification
- Maintain accurate reporting structures and authority delegations
Customer Fleet Information
- Update monthly KAM reports
- Track fleet population, status, and machine hours
- Assist with forecasting for parts, components, repairs, rebuilds, and replacements
New Business Development
- Source and secure new business in the territory
- Work toward agreed sales targets set by management
Customer Care & Complaints
- Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly
- Communicate urgency and implied needs effectively
- Resolve complaints and escalate serious issues to Branch Manager
- Investigate recurring service failures
Warranty Claims
- Ensure correct warranty procedures are followed
- Provide accurate analysis and data to customers
Sales Analysis
- Analyse weekly and monthly sales figures
- Identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities
Sales Activities
- Maintain call plans, call sheets, and market intelligence reports
- Participate in customer planning meetings
- Follow up on open orders, quotes, repairs, and rebuilds
- Participate in marketing events and activities
Sales Targets
- Continuously review sales performance
- Identify new opportunities at existing and new customers
- Understand customer budgets, expansions, and projects
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain high?quality verbal and written communication
- Assist with logistics and transport arrangements
- Ensure correct spares lists are provided to stores
Administration & Information Management
- Maintain accurate printed and electronic records
- Ensure timely and correct administration (quotes, invoicing, documentation)
- Manage customer back?orders
- Expedite stock from other branches and provide feedback
- Follow up on open quotes and sales trends
- Conduct weekly customer surveys
- Ensure vehicle logbooks and checklists are completed
- Resolve on?site queries and delayed payments
Technical Queries
- Liaise with technical teams to update specifications
- Ensure service bulletins are implemented
- Resolve part?number and specification queries
Stock Management
- Participate in stock takes and cycle counts
- Manage customer consignment stock
- Ensure replenishment, stock levels, and deviation resolution
Key Competencies

Candidate Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 5 years’ sales experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, BC/SAP)
- Strong sales ability with proven track record
- Product, market, and competitor knowledge
- Ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities
- Ability to compile professional customer proposals
- Ability to deliver presentations at all levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership ability
- Self?motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and strong time-management skills
