The External Sales Representative is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing existing customer accounts, and driving sales growth within a defined territory. The role focuses on building strong customer relationships, delivering product solutions, conducting site visits, and achieving sales and gross profit targets across a range of technical and industrial products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities
- Maintain and grow existing customer relationships
- Provide product support, guidance, and tailored solutions
- Conduct customer visits, quotations, and follow-ups
- Manage sales pipeline and complete customer planning schedules
- Prepare sales reports through data collection and analysis
- Drive cold calling to expand customer base
- Conduct product demonstrations where required
- Process orders, invoicing, and assist with back-order fulfilment
- Follow up on customer quotations and outstanding orders
- Maintain accurate records using internal systems
- Achieve monthly sales and gross profit targets
- Ensure compliance with company safety and operational procedures
- Support general administrative and ad-hoc duties as required
Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) minimum
- Minimum 5 years’ sales experience
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence and own transport
- Experience in technical or industrial sales (advantageous)
- Strong customer relationship management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a sales territory
- Good communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Strong planning, organisation, and time management abilities
- Problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
