Main Purpose of the Job

Booyco Electronics is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to perform installation, maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and commissioning of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems used within mining and industrial environments. The successful candidate will ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

Education, experience and competencies

• Qualified Millwright Trade Test (Red Seal) – Mandatory
• N4–N6 or National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Advantageous)
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 8 or higher)
• Valid medical fitness certificate for mining environments (or ability to obtain one)
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Millwright in mining, manufacturing, industrial, or heavy engineering environments
• Experience working with electronic systems, PLCs, motors, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Experience with fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
• Mining industry experience will be advantageous
  

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable operation
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on motors, drives, control panels, pumps, conveyors, and related systems
• Inspect equipment, replace defective components, and maintain systems within operational specifications
• Assist with the installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning of electronic safety systems and associated equipment
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs, troubleshoot issues efficiently, and minimise operational downtime
• Provide technical support to technicians, supervisors, and operational teams
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, OHSA, and MHSA requirements, including lockout procedures and safe work practices
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and job documentation while ensuring safe and clean work areas
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults, supporting root cause analysis, and recommending maintenance and efficiency improvements
