What We Need From You
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Economics, Law, Political Sciences, Public Administration, Engineering, Energy Studies or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within renewable energy, hydrogen/PtX, energy markets, energy policy, energy project development or related sectors
- Strong project and process management capability within complex or multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience working with government institutions, regulatory authorities or public-sector structures
- Ability to engage confidently with senior government officials and strategic stakeholders
- Strong understanding of South Africa’s energy sector and the global decarbonisation agenda
- Experience preparing high-level reports, briefings, presentations and analytical documents
- Strong organisational, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- High levels of professionalism, discretion and structured delivery
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Experience within donor-funded or international cooperation programmes will be advantageous
- Existing networks within the South African energy sector will be advantageous
What You Will Be Doing
- Support the DDG: Energy Programmes and Projects with strategic coordination, programme management and implementation support
- Prepare presentations, reports, briefings, concepts and analytical inputs for DEE and related government stakeholders
- Strengthen coordination and information flow between DEE and GIZ Energy Cluster projects
- Support operational planning, governance processes and programme monitoring
- Coordinate engagements with implementing partners, service providers and stakeholders
- Facilitate meetings, workshops and coordination platforms across the energy transition landscape
- Contribute to the effective implementation of GIZ-supported energy programmes in partnership with DEE
Your Environment and Impact
The position will be based at the GIZ offices in Hatfield, Pretoria, with agreed working days at DEE. Domestic and international travel will be required.
