Role Overview
The FinOps Consultant is responsible for supporting financial operations activities within FinChoice Africa, with a focus on accurate back-office processing, query resolution, administration, reporting, reconciliation support and adherence to operational controls.
The role requires a reliable and detail-oriented individual who can work accurately across financial operations
processes, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure that tasks are completed within agreed service levels and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations Processing
• Support day-to-day FinOps processing activities in line with approved procedures and business requirements.
• Assist with payment, refund, allocation, reconciliation or related back-office tasks as required by the business.
• Ensure financial operations tasks are completed accurately, timeously and within agreed service levels.
• Verify and confirm customer or transaction details by liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Keep outstanding tasks up to date and escalate delays or exceptions appropriately.
Query Resolution and Stakeholder Support
• Attend to logged queries in line with established query resolution principles.
• Investigate and resolve operational queries accurately and efficiently.
• Liaise with internal departments and external parties to obtain information or resolve issues.
• Provide clear feedback and updates where required.
• Escalate unresolved, complex or high-risk matters to the relevant Team Leader or Manager.
Administration and Reporting
• Follow back-office processes accurately to support quality service delivery.
• Complete daily administrative tasks, time sheets and productivity tracking where required.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, outstanding items and escalations.
• Prepare daily, weekly or monthly reports as required by the business.
• Report issues, variances or recurring process gaps that may affect operational performance.
Quality, Control and Compliance
• Ensure that all work is completed in line with internal policies, procedures and business standards.
• Capture and verify information accurately across relevant systems and trackers.
• Maintain strong attention to detail when handling financial, customer or transaction information.
• Adhere to compliance standards, quality benchmarks and legislative requirements.
Operational Efficiency and Team Collaboration
• Meet agreed productivity, quality, turnaround time and SLA targets.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and operational efficiency.
• Work effectively with colleagues, Team Leaders and other departments.
• Support team members where assistance is required.
• Maintain a professional, accountable and service-minded approach at all times.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years customer service, back-office, financial operations or administrative experience.
• Experience in payments, refunds, reconciliations, allocations, query resolution or financial back-office processing would be
advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with figures and customer information.
• Ability to follow processes, controls and procedures consistently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Clear credit and criminal record, where applicable.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends or public holidays where required by business operations.
