Senior Accountant | Manufacturing Sector

Location: Industria, Johannesburg

Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is looking to employ an accountant.

Job Purpose:

• Oversee and manage accounting operations within the company.


• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance


• Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.


• Manage Systems and provide support and solutions on reporting


• Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.


• Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


• Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting: Maintain and oversee bookkeeping to Balance Sheet.


• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts.


• Ensure accuracy and compliance


• Cost and Inventory Management: Develop and implement effective inventory management controls and procedures.


• Conduct regular cost analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities.


• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.


• Cash Management: Manage cash flow and develop cash forecasts.


• Ensure efficient use of financial resources and maintain liquidity.


• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.


• Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and other regulatory requirements.


• Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets.


• Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings.


• Team Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and mentor accounting staff.


• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.


• Assist the Financial Director with special projects and reports as needed.

Requirements:

• A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• A professional qualification (e.g., CGMA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.


• Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role.


• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.


• Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (Pastel Evolution is an advantage).


• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modelling.


• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
