JUNIOR WORKSHOP SAFETY OFFICER

Introduction
Our client is seeking a young, dynamic, and highly responsible Junior Workshop Safety Officer to support and manage safety compliance within a busy workshop environment.
This role requires someone who is mature, accountable, admin?strong, and able to work without supervision.
The ideal candidate must have 1–2 years of experience, be confident in creating and maintaining safety files, and be committed to upholding a strong safety culture.
Training will be provided, but the successful candidate must be proactive, reliable, and able to take full ownership of their work.
If you lack maturity, responsibility, or work ethic — this role will not be suitable.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Systems & Compliance
- Implement and manage workshop safety systems aligned with ISO 45001
- Conduct regular risk assessments, inspections, and ensure control measures are in place
- Monitor daily workshop operations for compliance with legislation and internal policies
Training & Safety Communication
- Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training
- Promote a strong safety culture across workshop and site teams
Incident & Record Management
- Maintain accurate incident, inspection, and audit records
- Investigate accidents and near?misses and implement corrective actions
PPE Management
- Manage ordering, stock control, and distribution of PPE
- Ensure correct PPE usage and compliance
Collaboration & Safety Leadership
- Work closely with workshop supervisors and project managers
- Support continuous improvement of safety processes and behaviours

Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer (1–2 years minimum)
- Experience creating and maintaining safety files
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and OHS legislation
- Health & Safety certification (NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, OSHA, or equivalent)
- Experience in PPE management and procurement
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to conduct investigations and write safety reports
- High attention to detail and strong administrative ability
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Valid driver’s licence
- Experience in steel construction, fabrication, heavy industry, or mining (advantageous)
- Must be young, dynamic, responsible, and proactive
