- Manage inventory control, replenishment, and stock accuracy within the warehouse
- Ensure all stock is correctly labelled, stored, replenished, and rotated according to operational procedures
- Monitor stock movements, stock adjustments, and inventory transactions within the warehouse management system
- Manage stock counts, investigate variances, and ensure inventory discrepancies are resolved timeously
- Oversee supplier returns, damaged stock, expired stock, and non-conforming inventory processes
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of stock and inventory reporting
- Maintain warehouse inventory master data and system integrity
- Monitor inventory department expenditure and assist with budget control
- Investigate inventory-related cost overruns and implement corrective measures
- Ensure compliance with warehouse quality standards, operational procedures, and audit requirements
- Lead and manage inventory staff, including performance management, coaching, training, and development
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding inventory operations
- Ensure health and safety compliance within inventory operations and warehouse activities
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and asset management related to warehouse equipment and facilities
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and operational reports
- Participate in operational planning and management meetings
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within inventory and warehouse processes
- Ensure operational risks, stock losses, and compliance matters are effectively managed
The Inventory Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control, stock management, replenishment, and warehouse inventory processes within the Distribution Centre environment. The role focuses on maintaining stock accuracy, managing inventory operations, overseeing warehouse compliance, controlling inventory-related costs, and leading inventory teams to ensure operational efficiency and service delivery across the client base.
Key Responsibilities:
Candidate Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Higher Grade Mathematics
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in inventory management within warehousing or distribution environments
- Minimum 5 years’ stock management experience
- Minimum 5 years’ people management experience
- Strong knowledge of warehouse inventory flow and stock control processes
- Experience working within warehousing, distribution, QSR, or FMCG industries
- Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of health and safety and warehouse compliance requirements
