DATA ANALYST - South Africa & UK OperationsPAARLMARKET RELATED SALARY, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

This role demands a self-starter who takes full ownership of the data lifecycle — from ingestion and cleansing through to modelling, visualisation, and stakeholder reporting — while maintaining rigorous data quality standards and complying with relevant legislation including POPIA (South Africa) and GDPR (United Kingdom)

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent
3–6 years of demonstrated experience in a data analyst or business intelligence role
Proven track record delivering analysis and reporting within multi-project or fast-paced environments
Experience working with both structured databases and unstructured data sources
Demonstrable ability to work independently and manage competing priorities without close supervision
Key responsibilities:
Data analysis & reporting
Data engineering & management
Cross-jurisdictional collaboration
Initiative & continuous improvement: Identify inefficiencies in existing data processes and propose or implement improvements independently
Stay current with emerging tools, techniques, and best practices in data analytics and engineering
Document methodologies, code, and analytical logic to enable knowledge transfer and repeatability
Mentor junior analysts where applicable and contribute to a culture of data literacy across the organisation
Preferred experience:
Experience supporting or working within organisations operating across multiple countries or time zones
Background in financial services, retail, logistics, professional services, or technology sectors
Exposure to Agile / Scrum project methodologies; comfort with sprint-based delivery and rapid iteration
Prior involvement in data migration, system integration, or ERP/CRM implementation projects
Hands-on experience with POPIA compliance (SA) and/or GDPR data handling requirements (UK)
Professional Certifications (advantageous):
Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
Google Professional Data Engineer or AWS Certified Data Analytics
dbt Analytics Engineering Certification
IIBA Certificate in Business Analysis (CCBA / CBAP)
Working conditions and special requirements:
Work will be mainly be based on site at the office in Paarl
Availability to attend virtual meetings with UK-based stakeholders during overlap hours (typically 08:00–11:00
A time / 07:00–10:00 UK time for BST; adjust for GMT)
May be required to support quarterly reporting cycles, system upgrades, or project cutover periods outside standard hours
Must be comfortable operating in a high-change environment where project scope, tools, or data sources may evolve rapidly
Reliable internet connectivity and a suitable home office setup required for remote/hybrid work
A valid South African identity document or work authorisation is required. UK right-to-work documentation required for any UK-based engagements
