Description
SSK currently has the following career opportunity at their Grain Department in Swellendam. For this position, we are looking for at least 5 years of experience in a similar position. The ideal candidate will act as a supportive role for the Silo Manager and will assist in handling and storing grain in a silo and silo bag storage environment. The ideal candidate must be trained and have experience in grading the various grain types, especially winter grain crops.

Responsibilities

• Grain receiving and shipping procedures
• Grain fumigation, storage, and silo management practices
• Supporting the Silo Manager with hygiene and site maintenance
• Supporting the Silo Manager with the fumigation plan
• Supporting the Silo Manager with quality and inventory administration
• Supporting the Silo Manager with quality and inventory control
• Assisting with shift work at the various silo locations
• Assisting with miscellaneous inventory and record keeping
• Assisting with the coordination and supervision of subordinates
• Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety procedures on site

Requirements

• At least a Matric (Grade 12) qualification
• Relevant post-school qualification/ experience
• Relevant experience in managing budgets and costings
• Computer skills (MS Office) and numerical skills
• Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
• A mechanical and/ or technical aptitude
• A valid Code EB (Code 8) driver's license
• A willingness to work long hours in seasonal times
• Physical ability to function in a silo environment
