Key performance areas:
1. Financial Strategy and Planning
• Develop and implement the organisation’s financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes.
• Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team to support informed decision-making.
2. Financial Management and Reporting
• Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local reporting standards.
• Manage financial controls, cash flow, and working capital to ensure liquidity and financial sustainability.
• Present consolidated financial reports to senior leadership, ARC, Exco, HOC and other relevant stakeholders.
3. Management and efficiency of the payroll department
• Ensure the payment process of staff, instructors and third parties are adhered to.
• Oversee and ensure that relevant reports are generated.
• Adherence to all legislation to ensure compliance with payment of salaries
• Ensure that all updates on the payroll systems are updated as and when required.
4. Supply chain / procurement management
• Provides strategic financial leadership across procurement, sourcing, and supply chain operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise profitability, cash-flow targets, and risk-management objectives.
• Uses advanced analytics, cost modeling, and scenario planning to drive smarter sourcing decisions, optimize inventories, and improve supply chain resilience.
• Leads financial governance of P2P and supply chain processes, improving transparency, control, and efficiency while unlocking measurable savings and working-capital improvements.
• Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and execute long-range supply chain strategies, supplier partnerships, and operational transformation initiatives.
5. Compliance and Governance
• Ensure adherence to Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and other relevant financial legislation.
• Maintain compliance with SARS requirements, CIPC filings, and external audit processes.
• Uphold governance principles.
6. Risk and Internal Controls Management
• Oversee internal audit functions and implement effective risk management frameworks.
• Evaluate and strengthen financial policies, systems, and controls.
• Manage insurance and investment portfolios where applicable.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
• Partner with departmental heads to support operational and strategic initiatives.
8. Income generating strategy
• Identify donor funding models and sponsorships for the sustainability of the
the organisation.
9. People Leadership and Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team in line with the Employment Equity Act and company transformation objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act in all HR-related practices.
Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s / BCom degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An Honours and CA(SA) will be advantageous
• Minimum of 8–10 years relevant experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior financial management role.
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years relevant experience of supply chain / procurement management
• Proven experience with financial systems (e.g. CRM, Accpac, Sage people 300, or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of accounting standards, tax laws, and labour legislation.
• Experience Risk, Audit, and Compliance processes.
