Role Purpose:

The IT Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems that support Merchant West’s business operations and strategic objectives. The role involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring system functionality, performance, and integration across platforms. The IT Developer contributes to continuous improvement of systems, supports digital initiatives, and ensures that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organisational standards and governance requirements.

Main Accountabilities:

1. Software Development and Delivery

• Design, develop, and implement software solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of development tasks in line with project timelines.
• Maintain high-quality code standards and development practices.

2. System Maintenance and Enhancement

• Maintain and enhance existing applications to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Identify and resolve system defects and performance issues.
• Implement system improvements based on business and technical requirements.

3. Requirements Analysis and Solution Design

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop functional and technical specifications for system enhancements.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with architecture standards.

4. Testing and Quality Assurance

• Perform unit testing and support system and user acceptance testing processes.
• Ensure developed solutions meet quality and performance standards.
• Address defects identified during testing and implementation phases.

5. System Integration and Support

• Support integration between systems and ensure smooth data flow across platforms.
• Provide technical support for system issues and user queries where required.
• Ensure stability and reliability of systems in production environments.

6. Governance and Documentation

• Maintain accurate technical documentation for systems and developments.
• Ensure adherence to development standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Support audit and compliance requirements related to system development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with relevant programming or development certifications being advantageous.

Experience:

• 3+ years of working experience in the IT field (non-negotiable)
• Over 3 years of experience working with C#, Visual Studio, .NET, and Blazor Server (non-negotiable)
• Over 3 years of experience with Bootstrap and the .NET technology stack, including Web API, MVC, .NET 4.5, .NET Core, EF Core, and WCF (non-negotiable)
• Experience working in the financial service industry (advantageous)

Skills:

• HTML and JavaScript knowledge (advantageous)
• Knowledge of CRM systems, SharePoint, and SSIS development (advantageous)
• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and SQL queries/stored procedures
• Strong understanding of design principles such as SOLID and GoF patterns
