SENIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICER: INTERNET
TCOE SALARY COMMENCING R1,071,429 PER ANNUM ● REF NO: CS 76/26 ● CIVIC CENTRE, CAPE TOWN
Requirements:
- Relevant three-year tertiary qualification or higher in Information Technology, or a related field
- Five (5) to eight (8) years’ relevant experience in Information Technology, of which two (2) years must be at senior level
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in network and systems support
- Minimum five (5) years’ hands-on experience with Linux (certification or formal training preferred), proficiency in shell scripting
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience with Windows Server
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing firewalls, DNS, and proxy servers
- Experience with pfSense, HAProxy, and Squid (advantageous)
- Experience with ElasticSearch and/or OpenSearch (advantageous)
- Strong general computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have valid driver’s licence.
Key performance areas:
- Apply professional expertise to enable adequate decision-making and future planning in the Internet Environment
- Maintenance planning and management of Internet: Proxy Systems, Linux, Windows Systems and external DNS
- Manage risks to minimise impact on business continuity
- Stakeholder relationship management and engagement to ensure smooth operations
- Supervise, coordinate and manage team activities and contractors involved in the supply/update of service delivery in the Internet section
- Project leadership and management within the specific domain aligned to project objectives in the City’s internet environment.
