Job Summary

Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare accurate and complete monthly and annual financial statements and management reports in compliance with accounting standards and per deadlines of group
Lead/support month-end and year-end close processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, closing entries, adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations
Compile, review and analyse financial data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and meaningful commentary; conduct variance analysis to identify trends and discrepancies
Work closely with accounting and cross-functional teams to resolve reporting issues and translate financial data into insights and actionable recommendations for leadership
Maintain, reconcile, and audit general ledger accounts and underlying transactions to ensure integrity of accounting data
Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable processes and balances, resolving discrepancies and ensuring timely processing
Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets; develop financial forecasts and projections; contribute to long-range planning and scenario modelling
Analyse cost structures, monitor key cost-related performance indicators, identify savings opportunities, and implement/evaluate cost control measures
Liaise with tax authorities and auditors as required
Design, implement, and test internal controls; ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies; identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules, and following up on audit findings
Compile comprehensive management reports including financial statements, performance metrics, and variance narratives; maintain and improve reporting templates
Ability to work across multiple operations and cross countries, including travel to neighbouring countries, to support business objectives; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function

Qualifications and Skills

Matric / Grade 12
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or related field
CA(SA), CIMA, or similar professional certification (advantageous)
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in management and financial accounting (corporate or multi-entity environment advantageous)
Extensive knowledge of management accounting principles and practices
In-depth knowledge of financial accounting standards, statutory reporting, audit and regulatory compliance (cross-country advantage)
Proficient in SAP, Oracle, AS400 (or other accounting systems) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros). Power BI knowledge (advantageous)
Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail; high organisational skills and adherence to deadlines
Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to influence across teams
Strategic, adaptable and proactive; comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (including neighbouring countries)
Based in Piet Retief
Bilingual in English and Afrikaans (advantageous)
