This role focuses on managing the full credit control and collections function to ensure timely payment of outstanding accounts and minimize financial risk. The position involves daily monitoring and allocation of customer payments, capturing bank statements on SAP, and maintaining accurate financial records. A strong emphasis is placed on following up on overdue accounts, resolving payment discrepancies, and ensuring all accounts adhere to agreed payment terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily collections
- Daily capturing of bank statements to SAP
- Ensure customer satisfaction regarding the timely delivery of statements and invoices
- Send Excel reports to customers
- Manage collection plans to optimize collection targets
- Send balance confirmations on accounts to customers monthly
- Conduct scheduled meetings with CRM regarding defaulting customers; compile minutes with responsible persons and action deadlines
- Report on the top 20 accounts overdue by 30 days and email Credit & Branch Managers weekly
- Update a tracking sheet in Excel for Freight/V&D shipments, invoicing, and payments
- Monitor and action all accounts over 30 days in line with the AR collection process
- Ensure all unallocated receipts are reconciled daily and accounted for
- Monitor unallocated credits
- Compile monthly reports and additional reports as required within deadlines
- Ensure reminder letters are sent to defaulting customers
- Ensure all queries are resolved timeously
- Ensure all accounts are maintained according to their payment terms and credit reviews
- Ensure all payments are accurately allocated to customer accounts
- Ensure all credit control procedures are followed and targets are met
- Adhere to all policies and documented procedures
- Update customer information on Sales Force and SAP
- Prepare monthly reporting: overdue accounts, commitments, and daily targets vs achieved
- Conduct customer visits where required to discuss overdue accounts and payment arrangements
- Review new customer applications
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- BCom degree or similar qualification will be beneficial
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a full credit control function
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Minimum 2 years’ SAP experience (optional)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
