- Oversee compliance with SMETA, NTBC, Bargaining Council, and chain‑store standards across all CMT suppliers
- Ensure all CMTs align with the company's compliance requirements and documentation standards
- Manage NTBC registrations, renewals, and certification submissions
- Conduct compliance inspections and audits at CMTs
- Track non‑conformances, corrective actions, and close‑out timelines
- Maintain accurate and audit‑ready compliance registers and records
- Coordinate full Occupational Health & Safety compliance across all Company sites
- Work in collaboration with the service provider (appointed OHS service provider)
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations
- Maintain and update:
- Risk assessments
- Legal appointments
- Health & safety policies and procedures
- Emergency and evacuation plans
- Lead incident reporting and investigations with SHE Representatives
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to closure
- Coordinate and maintain:
- Health & Safety Committee meetings
- Evacuation and fire drills
- Emergency response readiness
- Act as liaison with labour inspectors, auditors, and regulatory authorities
- Implement and enforce structured housekeeping and 5S standards
- Ensure:
- Proper storage of pallets, consumables, and equipment
- No waste, offcuts, dust, or debris on floors
- Develop and implement:
- Fibre and dust management plans
- Formal shutdown and clean‑up procedures
- Install housekeeping signage and visual control tools
- Drive a culture of cleanliness, discipline, and safety
- Attend to CMT queries relating to:
- Shortages
- Compliance deviations
- Operational non‑conformances
- Investigate discrepancies professionally and timeously
- Implement and track corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)

We are seeking a hands-on Compliance, Health & Safety & Housekeeping Officer to oversee quality control processes on the production floor for a home textile and manufacturing company. Position is based in Jacobs, Durban.
Role Purpose
The Compliance, Health & Safety & Housekeeping Officer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with SMETA, NTBC, Bargaining Council, and Occupational Health & Safety legislation across all the company's production sites and CMT suppliers.
The role drives structured housekeeping and 5S discipline, ensures audit readiness at all times, and coordinates health and safety compliance in collaboration with appointed service providers.

Candidate Requirements
- Relevant qualification in:
- Compliance
- Occupational Health & Safety
- Production / Operations Management
- SAMTRAC or equivalent H&S certification (advantageous)
- 3–5 years’ experience in a textile manufacturing or compliance environment
- Proven experience managing CMT compliance
- Exposure to SMETA audits and workplace risk management systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Governance and compliance mindset
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work under operational pressure
