Employer: Cape Union Mart International
We are looking for a detail‑oriented and technically capable Business Intelligence Support Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between the BI team and business stakeholders, ensuring reporting solutions, data pipelines, and dashboards are accurate, reliable, and easy to use.
You will investigate data issues, support end users, and continuously improve how the organisation accesses and understands its data.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first‑ and second‑line support for RI, Retail Home and reporting platforms, diagnosing and resolving data or access issues promptly
- Monitor and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and scheduled reports to ensure ongoing accuracy and availability
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate requirements into clear BI specifications
- Perform root‑cause analysis on data discrepancies and escalate complex issues where appropriate
- Assist in building, testing, and deploying new reports and dashboards during BI development sprints
- Create and maintain documentation, including user guides, data dictionaries, and support runbooks
- Deliver user training and onboarding for BI tools such as RI, Retail Home, and Power BI
- Manage user access, permissions, and governance across BI platforms in line with data security policies
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Intermediate SQL skills and experience querying relational databases
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration abilities
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
- High attention to data quality and detail
Advantageous
- Python or R for data analysis
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with dbt or similar data modelling tools
- ITIL or service desk experience
- Agile/Scrum working experience
- BI certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Tableau)
- Knowledge of data governance practices
Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in a BI, data, or analytics support role
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proven experience writing complex SQL queries
- Ability to manage multiple support tickets or requests in a deadline‑driven environment
