KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Managerial Leader II, Smelter Production
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To provide operational leadership for the Kamoa Smelter - ensuring safe, productive and cost-efficient management of the flow of operations in accordance with strategic objectives and Kamoa standards. The scope of the role includes the recovery of copper (acid plant, anode, slag concentrate). The incumbent leads a team of Senior Superintendents in ensuring optimum Smelter operations.
You will have the following:
- Must have a degree in Metallurgy
- Must have Certificate: hazardous goods handling
- Must have 15 years' relevant experience in Smelter Production with proven experience in building and commissioning a Smelter
- Must have Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering or Process Operations background with relevant academic and industry experience, including working on pertinent software.
- Must have at least 10 years’ experience in engineering, design, OEM selection, and managing construction and operation of copper flash smelters, copper Anode furnaces, and casting operations and relevant fields.
- At least 5 years’ experience in managerial role
- Must have Project management experience
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
- Process: Define, design, manage and coordinate a world class Smelter Operations function
- Oversee and monitor the Design, Construction and Commissioning of the Smelter
- Drive, implement, and continuously improve upon efficient, cost effective and safe production operations in the Smelter
- Oversee the production and product in an environmentally safe manner
- Manage and oversee Contractors and service providers
- Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
- Function as a Smelter Operations subject matter expert
- Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain
