- Monitoring the behaviour and activities of youth & serve as a positive role model.
- Conduct and participate in basic life skills teaching & provide the youth assistance with their homework/schoolwork.
- Assists in the developing and implementation of individual treatment plans and IDP’s.
- Prepare for admissions and discharges of youth & complete required program documentation.
- Complete reports as required & assists with administering medications etc.
- Conducts security / safety checks & transport youth as necessary.
- Participates in meetings and in-service training as required.
- Shift work as per roster, including some weekends and public holidays.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of the Child & Youth Care Worker, to be based at our Magaliesburg Campus. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Child & Youth Care Worker.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To implement care plans, supporting developmental programmes and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to meet the individual needs of each youth.
Responsibilities and Duties
Teach youth social, self-help academic and independent living skills as per treatment plans
· Participate in ITP review meetings.
· Implement the approved ITP by engaging in life-space teaching, using appropriate teaching interactions.
· Complete youth cards as applicable to their level in the system.
Foster & develop each youth by providing their emotional well-being
· Counsel youth through personal problems using rational problem solving intervention.
· Refer youth to other member of the MDT when required and recommended by immediate supervisor.
· Work with parents and MDT to address the youth’s self-image, confidence and sense of belonging.
Provide safe physical care of youth
· Be available to respond to and monitor youth at all times when on duty and on campus.
· Practise monthly fire drills as per Health & Safety Committee schedule.
· Identify and report any potential, internal & external risks to youth safety.

Qualifications
· Matric (Grade 12) qualification
· Child & Youth Care qualification – NQF Level 5
· Registered with SACSSP with proof of current membership
· Code 10 driver’s license with PDP
Experience
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Youth
· Knowledge of the Children’s Act and Justice system will be advantageous
