Overview

This role is suited to a senior-level engineer with strong backend development expertise and exposure to high-volume, transactional systems. You’ll play a key role in building, enhancing, and maintaining scalable systems, while contributing to architectural decisions, mentoring team members, and improving engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical integration of new clients into existing platforms
Design, develop, and implement new system functionality
Enhance and optimise current system features and performance
Conduct development testing, debugging, and ongoing maintenance
Provide 3rd line support and resolve complex technical queries
Ensure system security, compliance, and audit readiness
Drive improvements in development processes, tooling, and standards
Mentor junior developers and contribute to team leadership

Core Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification in Software Development, Computer Science, or Engineering
8+ years’ experience in software development (backend-focused)
Strong experience with:
Java (Standard & Enterprise Editions)
Spring Boot
SQL (MS SQL Server / PostgreSQL)
Solid understanding of development workflows and tools:
Git
Maven
Eclipse / NetBeans
Experience working in CI/CD and automated testing environments
Exposure to API development and integration (OpenAPI or similar)

Advantageous Experience

Financial services or payment processing systems
High-volume, real-time, multi-threaded system environments
Postilion (source/sink node development)
Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban)
Frontend development exposure (Angular)
