A leading civil engineering and construction firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Plant Mechanic to join their team. This role is essential for ensuring the maximum availability and reliability of a diverse fleet of earthmoving and construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repairs: Perform expert-level mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on a wide range of yellow metal equipment.

• Diagnostics: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot complex faults in engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.

• Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled service plans to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of the fleet.

• Field Support: Provide rapid response and on-site repairs in demanding construction and mining environments.

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all repairs, parts used, and machine service histories.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of post-apprenticeship experience specifically working with heavy/yellow metal machinery.

• Industry Background: Proven track record within the construction or mining sectors is essential.

• Technical Qualification: Relevant Trade Test (Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) is beneficial

• Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of major brands (e.g., CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Bell).

• Skills: Strong proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.

• Attributes: A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently under pressure.
