BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Workshop Manager / Mechanic will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and repairs of all company vehicles, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety at all times.
REMUNERATION PACKAGE
Salary is negotiable based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all vehicles, machinery (e.g., mini loaders, chainsaws, lawnmowers, weed eaters), and equipment are in good working order
- Create and strictly adhere to service schedules
- Maintain communication with production managers regarding vehicle/machinery service intervals, repairs, and ongoing maintenance
- Keep an updated stock list of parts required for in-house maintenance
- Conduct monthly stock takes of all workshop tools, equipment, and machinery
- Source and procure parts at the best available prices
- Implement and manage job cards
- Train staff on the correct use of machinery
- Perform welding and fabrication as required
- Oversee general workshop management
Candidate Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A recognised Qualified Technician/Mechanic qualification
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 10+ years mechanical experience
- Valid Code B driver's license (no endorsements)
- Budgeting and financial oversight experience
- Electrical diagnostics and fault-finding (completed training/courses essential)
- Solid documentation and admin capabilities
- Able to manage workload under pressure
- Project costing experience
- Reliable with contactable references
- Time-efficient with strong relationship-building abilities
IT & COMPUTER LITERACY (Non-Negotiable)
- Microsoft Office (Word & Excel – Intermediate level)
- Email & Internet research proficiency
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- RSA citizen
- Police Clearance Certificate ( issued within the last 3 months) required; to be provided if shortlisted
- Credit history check may be conducted
