We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist for our client in Cape Town. This role is perfect for a technical expert who thrives on troubleshooting, process optimization, and implementing cutting-edge technology across multiple sites.
You will install, commission, optimise and maintain automated manufacturing systems to ensure production runs efficiently, reliably, and at maximum capacity. Your work will involve continuous process improvement through strategic technology upgrades.
Responsibilities will include:
Program various PLCs, VFDs, and electronic equipment, Analyse data transfer issues between PLC and MES. Lead automation projects and assist with critical breakdowns. Ensure all new installations meet strict company standards.
Draft documentation for maintenance and optimization processes. Travel to various plants for installations, consultations, and inspections.
 
Requirements:
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in PLC programming and VFDs.
Problem Solver: Ability to eradicate recurring technical stoppages.
Communication: Skilled at training teams and collaborating with Group engineers.
Willingness to travel nationwide between plants as required.
Forward-Thinking: A passion for researching and implementing new tech.
